Jerram Foundation has established an annual bursary place within Day School’s alternative arts education programme, directly supporting artist-led initiatives within the vibrant city of Bristol.

Day School is a year-long programme designed to support artists and professional development. Established in 2021 by Jack Lewdjaw and Karanjit Panesar, to offer a meaningful response to the ongoing depletion of UK arts education provision, Day School is facilitated by Natasha MacVoy.

As part of Day School the participant will have access to a shared studio space at St Anne’s House, Bristol, alongside monthly education days, creative guest visits, practice support and advice, opportunities, community projects and social occasions. This award will alleviate the financial burden of the year, enabling an artist to focus more time on their practice as they grow and develop ideas in this supportive environment.

Jerram Foundation is pleased to fund another bursary place with Day School 2026/27! Supporting artist-led initiatives, while also enabling artists to focus more time on their work, aligns with our aim to provide opportunities for emerging artists to develop their practice.

Here are a few things the amazing Day School Artists have said….

“I wanted to express how incredibly grateful I am for the bursary that enabled me to join Day School. As a single parent with no second income, I simply could not have taken up the opportunity otherwise and it has genuinely been life changing. Having access to a studio again after more than twenty years has transformed my practice, giving me the space, focus and community I have long been missing. Day School itself has connected me with an inspiring network of artists and helped me build real momentum in my work. I also wanted to say what an exceptional job the Day School team is doing; it has made a huge impact on all of us, and the confidence, curiosity and openness it fosters are a big part of what makes the programme so special. Thank you again for your generosity and belief in artists like me, it has made an enormous difference, and I have worked incredibly hard this year because I never wanted to squander the opportunity.” – Jerram Foundation bursary recipient 2025/26

“An inspiring, encouraging and supportive environment that is inclusive of everyone. Each session is always completely different to the last, bringing new approaches to an art practice. It has been invaluable to me.”

“Day School came at a time when I was really considering dropping out of the art world, it gave me the push I needed to consider myself an artist and keep going.”

“It was the best thing I have ever done, gave me so much confidence, developed my practice in such an interesting way and made some really great mates.”

“Going to Day School brought back the fun of doing art, it reminded me of why I started making art in the first place. Being in such a supportive and playful environment makes you fall back in love with making. I’ve met some incredible people through Day School and made some friends for life.”
